The training centre is equipped with a Ship and Tug Simulator which has been programmed with the charted and graphic details of the newly dredged channel to the Musaffah Waterfront and Khalifa Port.

There are current training programs which allow Masters of smaller vessels to become familiar with the navigation of the new channel under a variety of weather and tidal conditions before taking their vessel into the channel. There is also a program which allows applicants for a Pilotage Exemption Certificate on larger vessels to reduce the live tripping requirement, by completing a simulator course.
ADPC Pilots also use the ship simulator to verify the handling of large vessels, with and without tug assistance, before they arrive in Khalifa port.
The Centre caters to internal and external trainees and further expansion will soon include a VTS simulator to train operators to IALA standards.
